Travel Information
The official currency in Hungary is the Hungarian forint (HUF). 1 EUR is about 400 HUF. (Present exchange rate)
All the hotels and restaurants, and almost all shops accepts Bank cards, thus there is no need to carry cash. If you need cash, there are exchange offices at the airport, or in downtown Debrecen.
Travel to Atomki
Via Debrecen Airport (DEB)
Debrecen has a small airport, with some international connections (Munich, London).
From Debrecen Airport the easiest way to get to ATOMKI, or to the hotel, is to take a taxi (distance about 9 km, price HUF 4500 (~12 Euro)).
Via Budapest Airport (BUD)
Participants are more likely to arrive at the Budapest Airport. From there, there are different ways of reaching the event site from the airport:
1) From BUD to Debrecen/ATOMKI by Rental Car
Car rental is available at the airport. A route plan to reach ATOMKI from the airport can be found here: [Google Maps] Budapest Airport to ATOMKI
Parking is free within the Atomki area, but pre-registration is required. Please email the number of the plate number to csedreki@atomki.hu.
2) From BUD to Debrecen/ATOMKI by Shuttle bus
An airport shuttle service which provides a door-to-door transfer from the airport to your hotel. The service must be pre-booked, which can be done on their website: Door to door service El-szállít.
Typical Prices:
A) normal transport, collecting many passengers: one-way 30,000 HUF/76 EUR/person, round-trip: 59,000 HUF/150 EUR/person.
B) Separate car "VIP transfer" (1-3 people) one-way 48,000 HUF/person, round-trip 95,000 HUF/person.
C) Separate car "VIP transfer" (4-8 people) one-way HUF 62,000 (~155 EUR)/person, round-trip HUF 110,000 (~275 EUR)/person.
3) From BUD to Debrecen/ATOMKI by Train
A public transport bus, 200E, connects the Budapest airport to the Kőbánya-Kispest train station. From there one can take a train to Debrecen.
3a) Shuttle Bus between BUD and Ferihegy train station
At BUD the public bus No. 200E departs outside of the ground level of the airport towards Budapest Kőbánya-Kispest. Bus ticket can be purchased from the driver or from the machines at the bus stop. Get off at the 5th stop called "Ferihegy vasútállomás".

3b) Train between Kőbánya-Kispest and Debrecen
The railway station is just on the opposite side of the street from the 200E bus stop and offers direct train connections to Debrecen. We recommend to use InterCity trains running every hour.

Tickets can be purchased from the machine at the platform or online.
3c) Tram between Debrecen Train Station and ATOMKI
Trams depart directly in front of the railway station. Tickets can be purchased at the tram office front of the train station, via online, or from the driver. Please take line nr 1 and get off at the stop Bem ter.
Entrance to ATOMKI
ATOMKI is located at Bem tér 18/c, but the entrance is at Poroszlay u. 6.
The closest tram station is Bem tér, of tram line nr. 1.
